Otara recently met with Hon. Namal Rajapaksa, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs and Hon. Ali Sabry (PC) Minister of Justice Sri Lanka regarding the process of finalizing, approving and gazetting the Animal Welfare Bill.

The Bill was an initiative started by a group of animal welfare advocates and organizations over 10 years ago. A special thank you goes out to the steering committee of this group for working tirelessly over the years on behalf of the rights of animals.

Sri Lanka looks forward to seeing the Animal Welfare Bill being approved in the near future. It is time for much needed legal right for the animals of Sri Lanka.
