Environmental Foundation (Guarantee) Limited (EFL) has been performing as a pro bono consultant on environmental law and science on behalf of the public, as a means of resolving Sri Lanka environmental issues. To date EFL has intervened in over 1000 investigations and over 200 court cases. Some of these cases are of national importance and have been resolved through judiciary interventions where the organisation provides legal and technical input as well as financial support.

Unfortunately, due to high interest in development recently by both past and present regimes, environmental destruction has quadrupled. Numerous public complaints, environmental legislation violations and environmental destruction cases exist that have not been investigated, and this figure rises every day.

Due to the dire need, EFL approached Otara Foundation to collaborate in this work in order to expand investigations. Otara Foundation agreed to contribute towards and support investigations.
