Sri Lanka celebrated the anniversary of its independence on the 4th of February 2016. With it, the Otara Foundation launched an Independence Day Campaign highlighting the plight of animals who suffer each day at the hands of humans; stray, captive, domestic and wild.
Consisting of hard-hitting images, the fact that all kinds of animals live in captivity purely for entertainment purposes and for the profit of others was brought into question.
Sri Lankans were urged to show the world their commitment and compassion towards both people and animals, in keeping with the freedom we fought for as a nation.
