Wildlife and Nature Protection Society (WNPS) together with Environmental Foundation (Guarantee) Limited (EFL) conducted four site visits from July November 2015. Investigations were carried out to understand the threats posed to the forest and the catchment area by the proposed Commercial Mango Cultivation project. It was noted that the proposed area was rich in dry zone flora and fauna, including small mammals and free ranging wild elephants. Discussions were also conducted with neighboring villages who would be near the main project site.
After careful consideration of all factors, and many meetings with stake holders, WNPS and EFL recommended a comprehensive and independent Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was done on both sites proposed for the Commercial Mango Cultivation project.
