The Otara Foundation attended a general assembly held at the Elizabeth Moir School to highlight to the students of the senior school the plight of the animals in the Dehiwala Zoo and any other establishment that keeps animals in captivity. The students were invited to compare the stark differences between captive animals and those who live free in their natural habitat. The presentation ended by stressing the importance of all animals enjoying the same freedom and protection from fear and harm as humans do. Following which, the students took turns to express their views towards the existence of zoos and ask questions.
